SUMMER GARDEN
Shaull Garden Club families have decided to maintain the garden over the summer by signing up for a week to maintain it. They will be watering, weeding and harvesting some vegetables. Feel free to stop by with your children to take a look at it and pick a few vegetables to sample. If interested contact the Shaull PTO.

UPDATE 2/24/2020
Our first Spring session of garden club is coming up in just a few weeks. The first work day is scheduled for the Saturday before our first club day, March 7th at 9am.  It will be to clean up our garden space to get it ready for the kids. We hope to build two new beds so we can have some dedicated herb space and have a load of soil delivered to fill those beds and supplement our existing beds.

The work day workshops will be tentatively scheduled for the first Saturday of every month during the growing season, March through October.  There will be a specific activity for each day to give our Shaull families an opportunity to explore new things in our garden space.

Our April work day, on the 4th at 9am, will be our Grand Opening Day!  We are installing an arbor to create a beautiful new entryway into our garden.  We will need as many hands as we can get! The site will have to be prepped and the arbor constructed. We will have plenty to do!

As always, any Shaull family is welcome to participate and enjoy our garden and workshops. This is not exclusively for kids in garden club. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

UPDATE March 2019
Phase 1 of the garden install is complete! Parents and students assembled and installed three garden beds, 6' x 12' each, laid lots of mulch and built wire growing arches between the beds. Anyone is welcome to join in for the next workday is May 18. Sign up on TTSU if interested.

UPDATE November 2018
The garden team will move the monthly meetings to Mondays. If you would like to join the team, sign up on the Committee Volunteers sheet at TTSU. Thanks!

                                                      SHAULL GARDEN CLUB VISION

In 2017, based on parents' interest, the Shaull PTO earmarked funds for an educational school garden project. The goal is to enable students to experience hands-on learning opportunities to enhance their already established science curriculum. Students would be able to nurture plant growth from seed to harvest and eventually be able to taste the fruits of their labor served in the cafeteria.

Garden structure and elements can be limited at the start and expand as involvement grows. Structures can include raised beds, potato bins, flower & herb pots, vining arbors, mushroom logs, rain barrels, compost bins, and more. Plants can include many varieties of vegetables, fruit trees & bushes, and edible flowers & herbs.

The success of a Shaull Garden is completely dependent upon families' ongoing support. It is imperative to have a strong team to oversee, manage and pass the project forward. The scope of the project can ebb and flow depending on interest and vision of current and future Shaull families.

Below is a PowerPoint presentation with goals, proposed location, potential design idea, seasonal planting schedule, and project timeline. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Shaull Garden Team, please sign up on the Shaull PTO Committee Volunteers sheet.

Thank you for investing in the Shaull students!
